Water Charge Rebate ???
Apr 23rd, 2006 at 2:51pm

Are you fed up with rising water bills? Did you know that if all of the rainwater from your property doesn't drain to the public sewer but to a soakaway, then you are entitled to a small rebate on your water bill with Sutton and East Surrey Water Co. As most of the Riddlesdown area is set on chalk, then the chances are the rainwater from your roof discharges to a soakaway. The rebate is currently 17.50 pa.

If you think this is the case, then contact Thames Water (who are responsible for the wastewater disposal in Riddlesdown) on 0845 300 2234 and ask for details of their surface water drainage rebate. They will send you a form the fill in. However you have to be certain that all of your property is connected to a soakaway. If some of it isn't, then you will not be entitled to a rebate. You may need to submit documentary evidence. Return the form to Thames Water and if necessary they will inspect. They will then contact Sutton & East Surrey who will send an amended bill through. Further info is available on the back of your water demand.
