LARGE MECHANICAL
DIGGER SEEN AT MITCHLEY HILL FIELD BELOW THE WOODS
This caused
some alarm among residents but investigations by RRA Chairman Brian Longman
eventually established that the digger belonged to Croydon Council and was
there to clear dead wood from their piece of woodland behind Holmwood Avenue

____________
INFORMATION
on this Planning Application as at 12/12/07:
Land off Lower Barn Road (adjacent The Parade Nos 108/110), Purley (Application No 07/03613/P): Erection of 1 two storey
building with accommodation in the roofspace comprising a total of 10, two
bedroom flats; formation of access road and provision of associated parking,
9 Spaces plus 1 disabled space (amended description from 12 flats and 12 car
parking spaces).
At the meeting on 15 November, the Council's Planning Committee
unanimously rejected this application.
RRA Chairman Brian Longman addressed the meeting and objected on behalf of
the RRA and Councillor Lynne Hale also spoke and objected.
On 19 November, the owners, Taylor Wimpey, did commence some tree felling on
site despite the planning application being refused. Many residents and the
RRA, contacted the Council about this. This complete disrespect by Taylor
Wimpey for both the environment and nature conservation, did receive
attention at the highest level with senior Council Officers and Councillors,
particularly the Planning Committee Councillors. Councillor Lynne Hale did
also raise a question, about the destruction of these trees at the full
Council meeting on 3 December 2007.
